Cthulhu and Literary Pets

I have been absent from the blog for a while, so I will try to make it up by posting some things I have saved up.

Flavorwire (not the greatest name, I must admit) is a fun site with a literary bent. I found two articles of note, two are just in time for Halloween.

Lovecraft is a writer who wrote some of the most unsettling and creepy works of the last century. The books have more of an atmosphere of impending doom, rather than the gory happenings of today’s horror.

Lovecraft’s invention of Cthulhu has become an internet meme of some note, The books may explain some of the stranger bumper stickers you have seen. I would like to read this book as well.

Lets dress your pets as literary figures for Halloween!

While I like the Romeo and Juliet, I was more amused by the Musketeers outfit. I am reading the original book by Dumas now. It is a really fun read. And no, I am not looking forward to the new movie with dirigibles and ninjas. Sigh, I will probably watch it anyway, so I can compare it unfavorably to the novel and this wonderful movie.
